What will I be doing?
A sewer helper is responsible for assisting sewer technicians or sewer repair crews in various tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and installation of sewer systems. Their primary duty is to support the technicians in completing assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.

The specific job duties of a sewer helper may include:

  • Assisting in the inspection and cleaning of sewer lines: You will help in the visual inspection of sewer lines using cameras and assist in cleaning them using high-pressure water jetting equipment or mechanical tools.

  • Excavation and trenching: You'll assist in digging trenches and excavating areas for sewer line repair or installation. This may involve operating hand tools or small equipment, such as shovels, picks, or compactors.

  • Assisting in repairing or replacing sewer lines: You'll provide support to technicians during sewer line repairs and replacements by handing them tools or materials, assisting in cutting and fitting pipes, and ensuring work areas are clean and safe.

  • Operating equipment and machinery: You may be responsible for operating specialized equipment and machinery, such as backhoes, trenchers, or pipe cutters, under the supervision of a skilled technician.

  • Maintaining tools and equipment: You are responsible for maintaining and cleaning tools, equipment, and vehicles used in sewer maintenance or repair, ensuring you are in good working condition.

  • Assisting with paperwork: You may be required to assist in preparing work orders, recording maintenance logs, keeping inventory, or completing paperwork related to the job.

  • Following safety protocols: You must strictly adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries during sewer maintenance or repair projects.

  • Providing general assistance: You may be required to provide general assistance to the crew as needed, such as organizing job sites, carrying materials, or performing other manual tasks.

Do I have what it takes?

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and working in tight spaces

  • Basic knowledge of sewer systems and their components

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions

  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and procedures

  • Valid driver's license

Pay Range: 20.00 - 23.00 hourly DOE

***Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and physical (field) upon acceptance of an offer letter
